After retiring from a career in Silicon Valley, where he worked as a hardware engineer for over 30 years, Christian bought a small piece of land in California and began growing lavender and grapes. Farming wasn’t a business plan — it was a second chapter, shaped by patience, land, and long days outdoors.

Lavender farming in California is not easy. Water and operating costs are high, and in some years the cost of water alone is higher than the revenue from the lavender. Farming here is a long-term commitment, chosen for quality and care rather than short-term returns.

The lavender is cultivated organically, with careful attention to the health of the land. Christian relies exclusively on non-chemical, cruelty-free methods to protect the crop, including the use of low-impact vibrating sound devices to discourage groundhogs. In this region of California, deer are also a frequent threat, so the farm is secured with gated entrances to prevent wildlife from entering the fields. Each harvest is carried out with care, and the lavender is distilled in small batches, allowing for precise temperature control and a gentler extraction process that helps preserve its natural aromatic profile.

Our lavender essential oil is extremely concentrated. Roughly 1,000 kilograms of lavender flowers produce only about 1 liter of essential oil. Nothing is blended or diluted. There are no shortcuts — just time, land, and careful work.
